Our Story

Our first visit to Florida was in 2000. We instantly fell in love and by our third visit we knew this is where we wanted to live. We set a 10-year goal to make it happen. Leading up to this we traveled around this beautiful state each year for vacation to find the perfect spot. Three years ago we bought our home in Port Charlotte. This is when our snowbird experience began. 

During this time was a lot of frustration and dissatisfaction with the care of our home and property. We were trying to deal with 3 different companies, which as you may know, is time-consuming. Each summer we would come down for a visit and check on our home. We were disappointed with the level of care to our property and pool so we made a decision to start our own business, one that is all-inclusive. 

Shield Home Services was created with snowbirds’ needs in mind, and can also be tailored for year-round residents. Imagine having only one company to deal with, whom will take on the responsibility of your lawn, pool, and home. One phone call and it is done, no more juggling different people and schedules. 

We are no longer snowbirds, but full-time residents of Florida, and we are dedicated to providing the level of care we would expect of our own home. As a family-owned and operated business, you will always deal with us directly, whether it is on the phone or online. 

Our experience speaks volumes about our qualifications. My husband, Jamie, has been in the construction field for 30 years, as a foreman and leader he has run many multi-million dollar jobs. Ten years ago we started buying rental properties; managing some, flipping others. Jamie is a certified, licensed, and insured home inspector in the state of Florida. I, Renee, am an avid gardener who has been maintaining the lawns at our rentals, and I am also a certified pool technician.
